San Francisco Symphony

Explore how the different instruments of the orchestra make their sounds! The SF Symphony’s Music for Families concert series returns on December 5 in collaboration with the Exploratorium. Learn about the science of sound through fun experiments, Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, selections from Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and more! You’ll meet all four of the orchestra’s instrument families—the strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion—and you’ll get the inside story on how buzzing, blowing, plucking, and thwacking can create incredible music.

Families receive a free activity guide and materials to enhance musical discovery at home.
